Engaging Elephants

Hello all,

Our daytime adventure today was to the Elephant Conservation Centre where tourist and visitor monies help support the elephants in their care and beyond.

This link will get you to the website, it is in Thai but Google translate seems to cope;

Here is the blurb from the tourism authority;

The Thai Elephant Conservation Center (TECC), founded in 1993 under Royal Patronage, cares for more than 50 Asian elephants in a beautiful forest conveniently located near the famous city of Chiang Mai. Beyond being an exciting tourist experience, the TECC is also known for its pioneering work in conservation and science. The TECC also proudly houses six of HM King Bhumibol's ten white elephants in the Royal Elephant Stables.Opening hours: 8:30am-4:30pmContact: 054-247-871, 054-247-979, 054-228-108Getting there: From city center, head to Lampang-Chiang Mai Highway. It's on Km. 28-29.http://www.tourismthailand.org/See-and-Do/Sights-and-attractions-Detail/Thai-Elephant-Conservation-Centre--4132

The first thing we saw was the elephants enjoying a bath;

Then to the show where we were told lots of fact such as the elephants are only allowed to work 3 hours per day and these house are in 10 min bites.

They played catch with their mahoot;

But I think they had a bit of fun when visitors joined in;

Followed by a short ride;

Soon it was time to go at the evening was approaching.

We called in the Red Lion to eat;

And Number 1 bar as well as the visit to the tailors.

And the evening came to a close.

Brew time...

Coffee.
